How we underwrite

Submission to binder, on one rail.

Eight steps, no re-keying. Here is exactly what happens to your file after you send it, and who is responsible at each stage.

The workflow

01

Submission

You

Send the risk through our submission form with the SOV, loss runs and layer request attached.

Received and acknowledged; data extracted automatically on arrival.

02

Triage & scoring

Jade

Locations mapped, TIV aggregated, cat and wildfire exposure scored against published appetite.

Out-of-appetite risks are declined here, quickly, so you are not left waiting.

03

Pricing & rating

Jade

The layer is catastrophe-modelled, results feed the rater, and the underwriter prices and decides.

By-peril technical price, not a desk rate applied to a schedule.

04

Quote

Jade → You

Quote issued to you with terms, subjectivities and the requested layer clearly stated.

Subjectivities are tracked against the record from this point forward.

05

Bind order

You

Issue the bind order to Jade with any final schedule changes.

Received same business day.

06

Bind & binder

Jade

Inspection ordered, policy bound, binder issued on Jade letterhead.

Inspections complete within seven days of bind.

07

Invoice

Jade → You

Invoice issued from the policy record; you remit net of commission.

Payment applied against the same record — no reconciliation by email.

08

Post-policy service

Jade

Endorsements and mid-term changes processed, inspection reports reviewed, claim referrals handled.

One point of contact through the policy term.

Pricing

Technical price built by peril, then applied to your layer.

Modelled perils

  • Earthquake, including fire following and sprinkler leakage
  • Windstorm, including surge
  • Severe convective storm
  • Winterstorm
  • Flood
  • Wildfire
  • All other perils — rated on location characteristics

Location characteristics

Non-modelled rates set by construction, occupancy, protection and exposure at each location.

First loss scales

Applied to ground-up technical premium to derive the excess layer premium, with three scale options by low, medium or high propensity to loss.

Underwriter modifier

A credit or debit applied to the final technical premium within published authority levels.

Layer premium

Components sum to ground-up technical premium, then apply to the individual layer.

Concentration management

Aggregation watched daily, not quarterly.

Daily

The PML aggregation monitor refreshes against the in-force book, treating live quotes as additive to the portfolio.

At 80% of cap

An off-cycle rollup model runs to true up the percentage and reset margin to the agreed cap.

Quarterly

Full portfolio report: ten key return periods, OEP and AEP, ground-up and gross, portfolio and account-level AAL.

Forms & compliance

We issue on proprietary coverage forms, with the policy jacket, state amendatory endorsements, schedules and declarations page produced from the same policy record.

Surplus lines collection and compliance checks are completed before issuance, and issuance responsibility is documented for every transaction.
